Guidelines & Meeting Manners
Birds enjoy meetings too, but it's a big responsibility! Germs may be airborne or transmitted through droppings or hand-to-hand contact. To protect the health of your bird and those of others, please observe the following guidelines.
Current DBC members are permitted to bring their birds to meetings. New members are welcomed to bring their birds after two months membership. Non-members may not bring birds to meetings. DBC asks that members wait for three months to bring newly acquired birds to meetings.
All birds must be in good health.
Owner must clean up after their bird and ensure that the room, floor and furniture are kept clean.
Owner is responsible for bringing newspaper and/or towels to clean up after their bird.
Chairs must not be used as perches.
No birds are to be left unattended.
Bird owners accept full responsibility and liability for the actions of their birds, i.e. bites, damage, poop, damages to property and/or members
The "Outreach Program" was developed with the intention of providing educational programs to the community through pet stores, Scout meetings, schools, senior citizen groups and other organizations. We prepare a program including pet care, diet and information on the birds' natural habitat. Various species of our pet birds are included in the program. We also educate the future buyer to the many responsibilities and possible problems they may face in the purchase of a pet bird.
